Frederik, Fridolin and Kristian. Two producers and a music critic. All musicians, all friends, all good. Speed of Sound was launched in 2008 with the release of The William Blakes’ debut album ‘Wayne Coyne’. The album was heralded as “the best Danish release in a long time” and made clear that this record label was not only a really good excuse to hang out.
Since then the label has released a string of adventurous and critically acclaimed albums by artists as diverse as Are We Brothers?, Le Fiasko, Shaque Lilli, Sleep Party People, Baron Criminel, Sterling and Stoffer & Maskinen.
The label has added a North American department led by Jesper - the proverbial fourth member - and we have begun venturing into The Great Abroad, with Are We Brothers? in France via Discograph and a much hyped release and tour of USA and Canada with The William Blakes in winter 2009 via Last Gang Records. More will follow.
Working on forthcoming releases for The Informations, The Late Great Fitzcarraldos, Mames Babegenush and Mikkel Nordsø our genre-preferences are virtually non existant. We believe in a incredibly good music. And that’s about it.
The label strategy is that there is no label strategy. This is not a cool hype-label with a trendy attitude towards releases. And we are definitely not in charge of an altruistic do-good-project. There is a reason that we release this music. We believe in it; it has blown our socks off and so we believe it will blow yours off as well.
Consequently we believe that world domination is on the horizon. Get on the bus now. |
