THE WILLIAM BLAKES
The William Blakes write anthems for an anthem-less generation.

LISTEN TO THE WILLIAM BLAKES

The William Blakes are fearless. The band's four members have known each other since they were teenagers. They all play everything and they trust each other completely. The William Blakes received outrageous reviews in their home country for ‘Wayne Coyne’; an album that was heralded as ‘the best Danish release in years’ and unanimously praised by critics and fans alike (see links). The music draws its inspirations from bands and artists as diverse as Talking Heads, Tears For Fears, Michael Jackson and Midlake.

They took their name from the poet William Blake (1757 - 1827) because they share his desire for a spiritual upheaval. Lyrically the songs focus on themes like religion, politics, fear and hope. The songs are soaring and majestic but full of cracks and sharp edges. This is music made without fear. Their debut album was recorded and mixed in 5 days in a wooden house in neighbouring country Sweden’s countryside.

The band is an unlikely constellation of differing talent but also a group made up of old friends. The band’s singer and main songwriter Kristian Leth is a published poet and TV persona in Denmark, while Bo Rande - the band’s horn and keyboardist - is a household name on recordings by almost anything worthwhile that ever came out of Denmark. Bands like Efterklang, Choir of Young Believers and Mew are graced by his presence. He is also a member of Blue Foundation who recently made a huge impact on the US scene for their featured song in the hit movie ‘Twilight ‘

The two are flanked by the twins Fridolin and Frederik Nordsø. The drummer Fridolin has made his name as an indie producer with a ear for hits and a broad work spectrum. He has produced a multitude of albums in their home country and has also worked with mega stars such as P Diddy on his project Danity Kane. His brother and the band’s guitarist Frederik is a much used R&B producer and has work with multi-award winning names such as Outlandish and Grammy Award winning R&B singer Brandy which has brought him around the world as a highly acclaimed producer.

This said about the members, The William Blakes is their core project for these four friends. They have made music together for more than ten years, and this is the result: Out of this odd mix comes a sound that is both anthemic and catchy, both rough and righteous.
