A rare, raw sensibility and an exquisite sound.
LISTEN TO LE FIASKO
The 8 person (and more) organism that is Le Fiasko, is centered around the two songwriters and singers Cæcilie Trier and Adreas Pallisgård. Between her classically trained cello and piano and his VU-ish guitar the band finds it form. The band is the shining evidence of the superb condition the Danish music scene is in right now; it is at the same time a musicians' playground and a sharply focused beam of creativity.
Creative forces from Under Byen, Choir Of Young Believers, Jong Pang, Atoi and others coalesce here in unbridled creativity and surprising moments that would in normal life be explained as weird but beautiful coincidences.
The music has symphonic undertones and mix cello, violin, horns and piano with guitar, bass and noisy drums. The band's live performances are trips into another atmosphere of sweat and poetry with pounding crescendos, quirky nonsense and towering silences.
The music unfolds in undiscovered territory between Velvet Underground and Feist, with numerous references to everything from Egyptian Mulatu Astatke to Irish U2.
Their debut album - called Le Fiasko - is released in November 2008 and is the pinnacle of their sound so far. Produced together with the greatly talented Mikkel Holtoug (a Speed Of Sound fave) it enlarges both the scope and the personality of this fearless classic. |
